Stainless Steel Exterior Stair Balustrade

 

A stainless steel exterior stair balustrade is a full railing system - top rail, posts, base rail and infill - installed along the open side of outdoor staircases to stop falls and guide people safely up and down. Because it works outdoors, material selection matters: 304 stainless steel is recommended for areas exposed to rain, humidity or coastal salt air, while 201 stainless steel can be used in milder climates. Posts are welded or bolted to the stair structure, the top rail follows the pitch of the stairs, and infill can be vertical bars, glass panels or mesh depending on the design. The standard height is 1100 mm, and the height, post spacing, stair angle and curvature are built to the actual staircase. Posts can be welded directly to the stair stringer or fixed with base plates and anchor bolts, depending on the stair construction. The top rail, mid rail and infill are aligned to the stair pitch, and corner and landing sections are formed to fit the platform layout.

 

Outdoor stairs vary in pitch, landing height and run length, so a balustrade that is prefabricated to the staircase geometry saves a large amount of on-site work. We manufacture the complete system from drawings - each post is cut and welded at the correct rake angle, the top rail matches the stair slope, and curved or corner sections are formed to the landing layout - so the balustrade bolts into place with minimal adjustment. For projects with several staircases, batch production from one confirmed drawing keeps every flight identical in angle and finish, which matters for both safety and appearance. The balustrade is produced in one controlled build - cutting, welding and finishing are completed in-house before delivery - so the rake angles and rail lengths are correct before the panels reach the site. Inspections against the drawing are carried out during production and before packing.
